Gmail will now convert phone numbers and addresses to links

Google is updating Gmail with a new feature that converts email addresses, phone numbers and contacts into clickable hyperlinks. This will save users the time of copying and pasting the said information from an email to other apps or websites.

By having email addresses, phone numbers, and contacts as hyperlinks, the following actions will be executed:
  • Clicking an address link will take the user to Google Maps
  • Clicking an email address will compose a new email, using the user’s default email client
  • When using a mobile device, clicking a phone number will start a call request using the default phone app.
The feature will be available on Gmail, and Inbox by Gmail on Android, iOS and web. Google says it will take up to three days to roll out the new feature completely.
