Sony Xperia Hello is a smart communication robot with built-in display


Sony introduced the 'Xperia Agent' as a concept back at MWC 2016, and now a year later, the Japanese tech giant has launched the product in Japan in the form of Xperia Hello. The device has built-in screen, camera and is integrated with voice assistant service. This reminds of the Amazon Echo Show speaker, which has a similar concept.

That being said Sony calls Xperia Hello a communication Robot, that is capable of recognizing each member of the family and talk to them for daily assistance. It can respond to voice, gesture and facial expressions.

It also performs the same activities like telling you about the weather, controlling  music, manage appointments, set reminders, control IoT devices and other tasks around the home. For this purpose, it is integrated with Sony Agent voice technology, which is also found in Xperia Earbuds. Sony Agent assistant can be triggered by saying the magic word "Hiperiaia!".

The Xperia Hello runs Android and features 4.6-inch liquid crystal touch screen display that shows conversation (from Line messaging app), news and other information. The display can rotate up to 340-degree to greet anyone who speaks to it. The device also has an inbuilt camera that can be used for video calls or as security camera. 

It is also equipped with infrared sensor to detect moments withing three-meter radius, and seven microphones to pick up your voice from across the house. 

The device also offers some functions that will be useful for family members. The "show me what my family is up to" command will notify you when the last time Children's face were detected. The "show me what you see" command will cause the Xperia Hello to rotate and provide a view of the surrounding.

The Sony Xperia Hello has ben priced at ¥150,000 ($1317 | Rs. 85,000) and will be available in Japan starting November 16.
