ZTE Axon M foldable phone with dual-screen announced


ZTE has introduced a unique smartphone with dual screen that can be folded and combined: Axon M. This is not the first of its kind, back in 2011 Kyocera released the Echo with a similar concept.

Thanks to the two screen design, you will be able fold the Axon M into a traditional 5.2-inch smartphone, or unfold using the hinge mechanism to get a mini tablet with 6.75-inch display. 

The ZTE Axon M can be used in four different modes:
  1. Dual Mode: Lets you run two different apps on both screens at the same time. For example you can check WhatsApp on one screen, while watching a movie on another.
  2. Extended Mode: User can use two screen as one large screen of 6.75-inch Full HD display to watch TV shows and movies or play games.
  3. Mirror Mode: Shows the same content on both the screen so that you and your friends can watch the same content on device. Simply fold the device and place it on a table for easy viewing from two separate sides.
  4. Traditional Mode: In this mode you can turn the device into smartphone, only powering one screen while disabling the other.
In terms of specifications, the Axon M features Full HD resolution screen with Gorilla Glass 5 protection, 2.15GHz quad-core Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage and 3180mAh battery. It has a single 20MP f/1.8 PDAF camera with OIS and dual-LED flash, that can act both as front an rear facing cameras.

It runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat and supports 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio jack and USB Type-C for connectivity. It also has stereo speakers.

The ZTE Axon M will be available exclusively on US based carrier AT&T later this fall for $725 (Rs. 47,000), which has to be paid in 30 months installments of $24.17. It will also release in China, Europe and Japan as well.
